In books, television, and movies, we are often shown an image of motherhood as superheroic or even saintly. Women who can’t or won’t have children, however, are routinely shown as somehow lacking or damaged, and particularly of seeing themselves this way. Why is this still the primary narrative in 2019, and what are the ways we can shift it?
